Silk Route was started in mid 2013 by a couple, Shomik and Poulami . Both have had international careers, having worked in Asia, Europe and USA in their own fields. As a result Silk Route too turned out to be a global headhunting firm, with a credible client and candidate base all over UK, Europe and Asia. We work with retailers, buying houses, sourcing offices, manufacturers and small family run set ups who seek talent in the fields of design, garment/fabric technology, sales, sourcing, compliance and general management.

After a first class Honours degree in Statistics and an MBA in finance, Poulami started her career as a womenswear buyer for a small family run retailer. 7 years later she joined the recruitment sector, covering all areas of head office fashion (design, technical, sourcing, production, commercial, buying and merchandising) across UK, Europe and Asia. She co-founded Silk Route in 2014 and now has a committed and growing network of clients and candidates. Passionate about Indian fabrics and ethnic wear, Poulami also co-owns a small ethnic wear brand. Mum to a 2 year old girl, Poulami loves spending time with family and travelling.

A graduate in Engineering and a CFA Charterholder, Shomik pursued a career within technology and banking in London for 12 years. He co founded Silk Route in 2014 and has been instrumental in driving it's international recruitment business. An enthusiast in business and finance, Shomik also has his own consultancy. Father to a beautiful girl, Shomik is a family man, who loves tennis and running.
